Noorla Yo-Long adventure programs are based around the practical application of life skills. We use a variety of activities as tools to provide opportunities for people to develop life skills. Some of these activities include: Co-operative team building games, trust activities, initiative problems, a low and high ropes challenge course, a 20 metre abseiling tower and an 80 metre flying fox.

In consultation with Noorla Yo-Long staff, programs are custom designed for educational/school groups, corporate groups, family groups, community groups and special needs groups ensuring that needs and goals are met Our program design is focused around an atmosphere that is fun, supportive and challenging. Our programs challenge people to go beyond their perceived boundaries, to work with others, to problem solve and experience success individually and a team.

Much of the outdoor adventure program approach to education and recreation is found in the positive outcomes that result from people simply trying the various activities we present. There are, however, several important learning goals which every Noorla Yo-Long program aims to achieve.picture of programme participants

  • Provide awareness of crime reduction issues amongst youth participants
  • Increase participants sense of self esteem and confidence
  • Increase effective team skills including communication, supporting and trusting others
  • Value differences within a group
  • Experience/ celebrate success and have fun!

'Challenge by Choice' offers you:

  • The chance to try potentially difficult and/or frightening challenges in an atmosphere of care, support and safety
  • The opportunity to 'back off' when performance pressures or self-doubt become too strong, knowing that an opportunity for the future attempt will always be available
  • The chance to try difficult tasks, recognising that the attempt is more significant than performance result.

Schools

Our youth programs are developed with the aim of providing young people with opportunities to develop life skills which in turn can be put into practice in all parts of their life eg: school, relationships, career etc. Another major aspect to our programming is our goal in offering an awareness of crime prevention and crime reduction issues.

Our programs are in line with DECS policies and guidelines, and with the SACSA framework. Our program can be broadly linked into all areas of the curriculum but more specifically to: SOSE, Citizenship, Health and Physical Education, the Key Competencies and Employability Skills, Enterprise Education principles, Program Achieve, Pastoral care and self directed learning.

Our program coordinator will ensure that programs are written to achieve specified outcomes and to cater for young people with a variety of needs.

Corporate

When planning corporate programs we ensure that the clients needs and goals are specifically integrated into the program being delivered. We look for effective pre visit communication to support this process.

We implement "Frontline Management" concepts as a base for skill development, and for empowering leadership skills amongst team members.

Through practical activities we promote leadership, processes involved in effective team work, creative and strategic problem solving, good communication, self and team challenge and achievingbeyond ones self imposed limits.

We create opportunities for participants to experience and better understand the process of change, and to achieve beyond their comfort zone.
